When it comes to the different cuts and settings for a diamond, there are many different possibilities to choose from. Each cut has its own name and each setting does as well, making the design possibilities for a diamond rings and eternity rings nearly endless. Either way, regardless of which design element you ultimately choose, there is one thing that all diamond rings have in common. Getting a good, high quality cut stone is essential for creating a ring that looks picture perfect in its setting. If you select a diamond that is poorly cut, it can decrease the overall beauty of how the diamond will reflect light. Wrongly cut diamonds will not sparkle and shine correctly and can actually come across as looking like an imposter diamond, no matter how rich their quality, if their cuts are faulty.
One interesting thing about cutting diamonds is the belief that their width is correlated to their depth and that the reflection of white light coming from the stone is greatly impacted by the angles cut into the diamond itself. A diamond cut too deeply allows light to escape out of the sides, meaning the stone itself will look too dark. A diamond cut too shallow will actually appear lifeless and lackluster and not like a diamond at all.
When a diamond is cut correctly the light will come up through the top of the stone naturally and offer a very brilliant view of the diamond itself. A lot of the diamond’s appeal has to do with its cemetery and how the facets of the diamond’s edges align with one another and how they literally play with the light to create a specific sparkle.
